An LG refrigerator that runs all day and never gets below fifty degrees is usually telling you about its compressor, and the internet has plenty to say about that.

The LG linear compressor deserves its own paragraph. Between roughly 2014 and 2019 a great many LG French doors and side-by-sides shipped with a compressor that could lose its ability to pump after a few years while humming along as though nothing were wrong. Owners in Ken Lake, on Black Lake Boulevard and in the lofts along Capitol Way have lived through the slow warm-up. LG lengthened its compressor coverage as a result, and on many units it is still in force.
So the first thing we establish on an LG that will not cool is whether the compressor is truly the culprit and, if so, whether the maker still owes you a part. A stalled evaporator fan or a stuck defrost cycle makes the same warm fridge and costs far less to put right.
The compressor is warm and running, the condenser fan spins, and neither compartment drops below the mid-forties. That is the classic linear compressor pattern, confirmed by a pressure and current test rather than a listen. We check coverage status before quoting, because on many models LG's extended term still pays for the part, and we explain what a sealed-system repair involves and whether your cabinet justifies it.
Er FF points at the freezer fan circuit, and on LG French doors the usual reason is a fan blade frozen into a block of ice rather than a bad motor. The ice is there because defrost is not finishing. We clear it, test the defrost heater, sensor and control, replace whatever let the frost build, and fit a new fan only when the motor genuinely tests bad.
A slab of ice under the bottom basket, sometimes with water on the kitchen floor, means the defrost drain has frozen shut and meltwater has nowhere to go. We thaw and clear the drain tube, fit the updated drain heater or grommet where LG has issued one for the model, and check the door gasket, because a gasket leaking humid air keeps re-freezing the drain.
The door ice maker stops, drops thin cubes, or the Craft Ice sphere maker never completes. On LG the fill tube freezing, a weak door-hinge water connection and a failed ice maker module all present the same way. We test the fill valve and tube, check the auger and ejector, and replace the module or valve as the test dictates, not as the forum suggests.
The power came back on Steamboat Island after the November blow and the LG did not. Or it did, but the display is dark, or it cycles on and off. We test the main board's relays and supply, check the inverter that drives the compressor, and look at the door display harness. Outage damage is usually one component, and we replace that one rather than a stack of boards.
Milk spoils while the ice cream stays hard. On LG the damper between the compartments sticks, the fresh-food fan quits, or the thermistor lies to the control. Each gives a warm top half with a cold bottom. We meter the thermistors, cycle the damper, and watch the fan before naming the part, and we brush out the condenser with the back off, because dust and dog hair make everything worse.

Somewhat. Garage refrigerators run in colder air through winter, and some LG models struggle to keep the freezer cold when the garage drops into the forties, because the fresh-food thermostat rarely calls for cooling. That is a limitation, not a fault, and we will say which one you have rather than sell parts for a problem the placement created.
In most cases it means the defrost cycle ran too long without the evaporator warming up as expected, which points at the defrost heater, its fuse, or the sensor that watches it. It is one of the more useful LG codes because it narrows things quickly. We test those three components and replace the one that failed.
