Brands · eight makers · faults, codes, fixes

Eight brands, as they fail around the inlet.

Newer Cooper Point kitchens lean Samsung and LG, Eastside basements hold Whirlpool and Maytag pairs, the rentals around Evergreen run on GE and Frigidaire, and South Capitol remodels tuck Bosch and KitchenAid under the counters.

In the van

Six appliances, known inside out

By maker

The fault usually has a brand name on it.

An LG washer that halts on OE every time the septic standpipe backs up, a Samsung French-door icing over its own ice compartment, a Whirlpool Cabrio growling on a worn bearing, a Bosch dishwasher stuck on E24 — none of those is a generic problem, and none takes a generic part. The page for each maker lists what turns up most in Olympia houses, the codes worth reading to us on the phone, and two further pages for the machines that maker is famous for. This is an independent shop on the west side with no ties to any of them; when a maker’s own warranty is still in force on your machine, you hear it from us first, ahead of any spending.

How a visit runs

Four stages, none skipped

The price goes on paper before a screw comes out.

01

Tell us what it is doing

Ring or use the form; a phone photo of the display or the model sticker saves a step. We ring back with an arrival window and text again as the van pulls off Woodland Square Loop.

02

Readings first, opinions second

The technician tests the suspect part with instruments, tells you in plain words what gave out, and writes the repair down as a single price. Your $99 is already inside that number.

03

Most parts ride in the van

Fill valves, defrost heaters, igniters, drum rollers, drain pumps, relays — the things well water, salt air and PSE outages wear out on this shore of the inlet. If we have to order something, the second trip is ours to make, not yours to pay for.

04

A test run, then the invoice

You watch the machine finish a whole cycle, the kick panels and the floor go back the way they were, and the warranty term is typed onto the invoice.

Display flashing a code, or a refrigerator gone silent?

Tell us over the phone. For $99 a technician tests the machine and writes the repair down as one price with that $99 folded in, and the invoice carries the warranty term in print.
